Mix of musings and resources for faculty
Subtitles are a perfect spot for favorite song lyrics, no?
Welcome to “Director's Notes” with Christine Rener.
This newsletter grows out of my Director’s Notes that I have been writing to accompany the mailings out of the Robert and Mary Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center (Pew FTLC) at Grand Valley State University. Sharing big and small ideas for teaching as well as resources to help us better understand student learning is an important part of my current role. New approaches and cool ideas come across my desk daily and I wanted to find a venue for sharing/curating in a timely, digestible manner. So, here we are!
Being partial to the number “4” and moving through the world as a relatively orderly person, these posts will follow a similar format, with four sections:
a way of thinking, a mindset, a bigger picture view of learning
a resource, approach or strategy that I want to draw attention to, something that made me sit up and take notice, an idea of importance to faculty regardless of discipline or level of teaching experience
a resource, approach or strategy related to a Pew FTLC initiative or event
a graphical representation, infographic, or other visually pleasing thing

Note: I take requests. What have you been reflecting upon lately? What questions about teaching and learning are front of mind?
